Cricket Switzerland Coaching

COACH EDUCATION & DEVELOPMENT
The Cricket Switzerland coaching pathway follows the ICC global coaching framework.
Great cricket depends on great coaching.
Cricket Switzerland’s coach education and development pathway follows the International Cricket Council (ICC) Training and Education Programme. This provides coaches in Switzerland with a clear, progressive and internationally recognised pathway — from introductory coaching through to advanced and high-performance environments.
ICC FOUNDATION → ICC LEVEL 1 → ICC LEVEL 2 → ICC LEVEL 3
Cricket Switzerland’s role is to create opportunities for coaches to progress through this ICC pathway and to apply their knowledge within the Swiss cricket environment.

THE SWISS COACHING PATHWAY
Cricket Switzerland does not operate a separate national coaching qualification system. Our coaching pathway follows the ICC international coaching framework, ensuring that coach education in Switzerland is connected to the global game.
The ICC provides the coaching framework and qualifications, while Cricket Switzerland supports coaches in accessing the pathway and developing their practical experience through clubs, academies, schools, development programmes and representative cricket.
This creates a clear journey for anyone who wants to become a cricket coach in Switzerland.
ICC FOUNDATION
The ICC Foundation Course is the entry point to the ICC coaching pathway. It is an online, self-paced programme designed to introduce participants to the fundamentals of cricket coaching.
The course provides an introduction to coaching principles, cricket fundamentals, player safety, inclusion and session planning. It is an ideal starting point for people who are new to coaching and want to begin supporting cricket activities under the guidance of a qualified coach.
ICC FOUNDATION
Your first step into cricket coaching.
ICC LEVEL 1
The ICC Level 1 course is designed for coaches who want to move from introductory learning into practical coaching.
The programme combines online learning with face-to-face practical assessment and focuses on developing the knowledge, confidence and skills required to plan and deliver effective cricket sessions.
For many coaches, Level 1 represents the first major step towards becoming an active coach within a club, academy, school or development programme.
ICC LEVEL 1
From learning the principles of coaching to putting them into practice.
ICC LEVEL 2
The ICC Level 2 qualification supports coaches who are ready to take greater responsibility for player and team development.
At this stage, coaches develop a deeper understanding of coaching methodology, player development, team environments, planning and evaluation. The focus moves beyond individual sessions towards creating structured development programmes and supporting players through competitive cricket.
ICC LEVEL 2
Developing the coach who develops the player.
ICC LEVEL 3
The ICC Level 3 qualification represents the advanced stage of the ICC coaching pathway and is aimed at coaches working towards high-performance environments.
At this level, coaching becomes increasingly focused on advanced player development, performance planning, team culture and leadership. Coaches develop the ability to create and lead environments that support players and teams at the highest levels of the game.
ICC LEVEL 3
Developing coaches to lead high-performance environments.
HOW TO ACCESS ICC COACHING COURSES:
REGISTER WITH THE ICC LEARNING PLATFORM
Cricket Switzerland’s coaching pathway follows the ICC Training and Education Programme. To access the online components of the ICC coaching pathway, coaches must first create an account on the ICC’s designated learning platform.
Registration is completed directly with the ICC. Once registered, you can access the courses available to you and track your progress through your personal learning account.
STEP 1 — CREATE YOUR ICC ACCOUNT
Start by registering on the ICC Training and Education platform. Use your personal email address and create your account using the details requested by the ICC.
STEP 2 — ACCESS THE COACHING PATHWAY
Once your account has been created, sign in to the ICC learning platform and select the relevant coaching course.
The coaching pathway begins with the ICC Coaching Foundation Course, followed by ICC Level 1, ICC Level 2 and ICC Level 3 as you progress through the pathway.
STEP 3 — COMPLETE THE ONLINE LEARNING
The online components can be completed through the ICC learning platform. Depending on the course, learning may be self-paced or form part of a blended programme combining online learning with face-to-face practical training.
The ICC Foundation Course is fully online and self-paced. Higher-level courses may include practical components delivered through ICC Member organisations such as Cricket Switzerland.
STEP 4 — REGISTER FOR PRACTICAL COURSES IN SWITZERLAND
For courses requiring face-to-face training or assessment, Cricket Switzerland will publish the relevant course dates, requirements and registration information.
Online registration with the ICC does not automatically register you for a Cricket Switzerland practical course. Where a course includes a Swiss-based practical component, coaches must follow the additional registration instructions provided by Cricket Switzerland.
IMPORTANT
ICC online learning accounts and course records are managed through the ICC’s education platform. Cricket Switzerland does not manage individual ICC online learner accounts or course records.
For questions relating to a specific Cricket Switzerland course, practical assessment or course registration in Switzerland, please contact the Cricket Switzerland Coaching Department.
The ICC Training and Education programme provides the international coaching framework. Cricket Switzerland supports its implementation and delivery within Switzerland.
FROM ICC QUALIFICATION TO SWISS CRICKET
An ICC qualification is an important part of a coach’s development, but coaching education does not end when a course is completed.
Cricket Switzerland encourages coaches to apply their learning through practical experience across the Swiss cricket system. Clubs, academies, schools, junior programmes, women’s cricket and representative teams all provide opportunities for coaches to develop their experience and continue learning.
As coaches progress through the ICC pathway, they can take on greater responsibility and contribute to the development of players and teams across Switzerland.
BUILDING THE COACHING COMMUNITY
Cricket Switzerland wants to create a strong, diverse and connected coaching community across the country.
Whether you are a parent taking your first steps into coaching, a club coach working with junior or senior players, an experienced coach looking to progress, or a coach aspiring to work in representative and high-performance cricket, the ICC pathway provides a clear structure for your development.
Our ambition is simple: every player in Switzerland should have access to safe, knowledgeable and player-centred coaching.
CONTINUOUS COACH DEVELOPMENT
Good coaches never stop learning.
Cricket Switzerland will continue to support the development of coaches through ICC qualifications, practical opportunities, workshops, mentoring and knowledge-sharing across the Swiss cricket community.
The objective is not simply to increase the number of qualified coaches, but to develop coaches who can create positive experiences, improve players and contribute to stronger clubs and teams.
THE FUTURE OF COACHING IN SWITZERLAND
By following the ICC international coaching pathway, Cricket Switzerland is connecting Swiss coaches to a recognised global framework while creating opportunities to develop their skills within the Swiss sporting environment.
From the first coaching session to the highest levels of the game, our pathway provides a clear direction for coaches who want to learn, develop and contribute to Swiss cricket.
ICC FOUNDATION → ICC LEVEL 1 → ICC LEVEL 2 → ICC LEVEL 3
