Switzerland re-enters world cricket

On Sunday 18th July 2021, acting Chief Executive of the ICC, Geoff Allardice, confirmed that Cricket Switzerland's application to become members of the ICC had been considered & approved by the ICC Board and ratified by the ICC AGM on Sunday 18th July 2021.

In his letter to Cricket Switzerland President Alex Mackay, Geoff Allardice wrote, "The approval of Cricket Switzerland as a Member of the ICC is an exciting development for the growth of global cricket and the game in Europe".

In the coming weeks & months Cricket Switzerland will work closely with the ICC Europe office as part of the ICC induction program.

Alex Mackay said, "These are indeed exciting times for Swiss cricket. Membership of the ICC is reward to all those that have worked so tirelessly over the last 10 years to prove to the world that cricket, at all levels, is in good hands in this country".
Asked what this will mean for Swiss Cricket, Alex Mackay continued, "I am confident this will create opportunities for sponsorship and for funding to enable us to realise all our ambitions for the game in this country, for players, coaches, officials, the development of facilities and participation in ICC international competitions. This is the first part of our journey, there is a long way to go."

ICC membership applies with immediate effect.
