Publicity report 2020

Publicising Cricket Switzerland and its activities has multiple aims, including:

  • raising awareness of the sport generally;
  • identifying Cricket Switzerland as the official governing body in Switzerland;
  • encouraging participation;
  • growing the membership base; and
  • attracting additional sponsorship.

The publicity tools utilised during 2020 include the website, social media sites (Facebook and Twitter) and the monthly eNewsletter. In addition digital and print media were monitored for newsworthy articles on cricket and published in the media archive 2020.
During the season Cricket Switzerland had the opportunity to publicise itself via advertising hoardings on-the-spot during the Dream 11 T10 tournament in St. Gallen, which was streamed worldwide, creating a much greater awareness of the sport in Switzerland.

It is evident that continued use of digital media and tools will be critical to the future success of publicising cricket in Switzerland.

Re-admission to the International Cricket Council from 2021 onwards would return Switzerland formally to the international cricket arena and give us the right and opportunity to further publicise cricket’s status in Switzerland with linkages to the world governing body.
