Following an executive meeting on Sunday 31st May 2020, Cricket Switzerland has announced that the relaxation measurers introduced by the Federal Government that come into effect on 6th
June 2020, and with the agreement of Swiss Olympic & BASPO, allow the 2020 cricket season to begin.
The season will begin with a T10 Cricket extravaganza, to be broadcast live by the European Cricket Network from Gründenmoos in St Gallen.
Six teams to play a series of T10 matches Monday 22nd to Friday 26th June to determine the winners of the DREAM11 European Cricket Series.
Unfortunately, the reality is we have still lost half the season to the corona virus. As a result, the CSPL, the traditional 40-over league competition, will be adapted into a knockout competition, with the first rounds taking place on 16th August and a final pushed to Sunday 4th October.
However, the Pickwick Twenty20 league will proceed unchanged, with three geographical groups playing a series of qualification matches and a finals day to be played on Sunday 20th September.
The only other events to survive the COVID-19 corona virus crisis are two soft-ball events: the Village Cricketers Family Cricket Day on 15th August & the Olten Cricket Festival postponed to Saturday 5th September.
