Zug'S Amal Fonseka (80) led his team to victory in the first Pickwick Twenty20 match of 2020 at Kreuzzelg, Wettingen on Sunday 26th July 2020.

Together with team-mate Lasanga Gayan (41), they put on a 1st wicket stand of 107 before being caught by Sridhar Avula off Praveen Garlapati in the 13th over, with the score on 107.

The Aargau bowlers proved ineffective against the Zug opening batting attack, however, Aargau did limit the mid-order, Zug completing their innings on 169-5 in their allotted 20 overs.

In reply Aargau got off to a terrible start when they lost their opener Edwin Stalin for 0 on the third ball, SS Safi clean bowling the opener. Three overs later, Praveen Garlapati (5) was caught by Raihanullah Dargal off Muhammad Arshad.

Aargau staged a bit of a recovery until Rajasekhar Krishnamurthy (12) was bowled by veteran Jayarathne Sudath. At 50-3 and 13 overs still to go the game was by no means out of sight, but Sudath struck again with next ball Hedayatullah Shinwari caught by Pio de Silva. Was it all over at 50-4?

It looked like it when the Aargau opener Tarakhel Atiqullah was caught by SS Safi off Sudath in the 10th over. But SS Singh (53) and Sridhar Avula (31) took Aargau to within 19 runs of the target set by Zug, VICE-captain A.Fonseka taking both wickets, caught behind and stumped by the Zug 'keeper.

Zug travel to Geneva in 7 days time for their next match, while Aargau host Pickwick newcomers Pakhtoon at Kreuzzelg.
