The St.Gallen Cricket Club is one of the most successful teams in Switzerland. In 2018 the St.Gallen team became Swiss champions for the first time.
On Sunday, the team will once again play the final for the league title against the Geneva Cricket Club on the Gründenmoos.
For the St.Gallen club, this is already the third major event it is hosting this season. Team captain Nasir Mahmood says:
"This was an interesting year. For us as a club as well as for the city of St. Gallen as host".
Both the European Cricket League (ECL) and the international tournament SwissT10 were organised by the St.Gallen Cricket Club together with the city of St. Gallen as organiser.
While cricket enjoys a niche existence in Switzerland, the sport is extremely popular in countries such as Great Britain, India and Pakistan.
During the summer tournaments, several 100s of thousands of spectators from all over the world watched live on the Internet.
Sportingly, St.Gallen is still a little in the discovery phase. Five players left the club before this season. But the trend is upwards.
Captain Mahmood led his team to success in a fierce semi-final against Cossonay. All that is missing is the perfect end to an eventful St.Gallen season.
