One affect of the Covid-19 corona virus pandemic causing a delayed start to the cricket season in Switzerland is that this year's CSPL 40 over league was turned into a knock-out competition.
When that decision was taken few could have foreseen the problem now facing Cossonay & Nomads, that their quarter final match could be decided by the toss of a coin, as they try to force
their quarter-final match in, 24 hours before the semi-final against St Gallen.
How did it come to this?
Both teams are having a good season, having qualified for the quarter-final stage of both the CSPL and the Mr Pickwick Twenty20 League that also took place in September. Add to that consecutive weekends of bad weather and the unavailability of grounds due to Léman Cup matches (also scheduled in in September), the consequences are that if the match cannot be decided on Saturday (the third time this match has been scheduled), then the winner of a toss will proceed to the semi-final and face St Gallen the following day.
