Although the summer season came to a satisfying conclusion, the Covid-19 corona virus continues to affect all aspects of the game in Switzerland and have a negative impact on the everyday lives of cricketers across the country.
Even before the latest measures introduced by the Federal Council to slow down the second wave of the pandemic came into effect, the series of autumn indoor cricket tournaments organised by Gingins Cricket Club for the U11, U13 & U15 age groups have all been postponed.
While juniors are free to train in small groups & without masks, senior clubs have had to abandon any hopes of moving indoors.
End of season club dinners & social evenings have also been abandoned and the winners of the season’s best trophies & awards will have to be content with receiving their accolades privately. Nevertheless, we congratulate all.
In a telephone interview Cricket Switzerland’s president Alexander Mackay told this website, “We need patience and resolve to help us through this second wave, to respect the measures affecting us all, whether privately or professionally, to keep ourselves, our families and our fellow country-folk safe”.
The next update is expected at the end of November.
