Alexander Mackay & Abraham Koshy represented Cricket Switzerland at 23rd Assembly of the Swiss Olympic Sports Parliament at the Haus des Sports in Ittigen b. B. on Friday 22nd November 2019.
Cricket Switzerland has been a member of Swiss Olympic since 2017 and as such is the officially recognised representative for the sport of cricket in Switzerland.
In addition to an array of information about Swiss Olympic and sporting successes in Switzerland & internationally, the assembly also bestowed an honorary title to the current President of Switzerland Mr. Ueli Maurer for his involvement and contribution to sport in Switzerland in past political office as Head of the Federal Department of Defence, Civil Protection and Sport DDPS, and his second term as Swiss President (2013 & 2019).
On the recommendation of the Swiss Olympic Executive the meeting also accepted two additional members to Swiss Olympic taking the total to 77 sports associations & 13 partner organisations.
Swiss Olympic is the umbrella organisation for all sports in Switzerland. It represents Switzerland and its delegates within the Olympic movement and provides funds for member sporting associations from financial support received from various contributors, such as the Bundesamt für Sport (BASPO), but mainly from lottery funds raised by SPORT-TOTO, LOTERIE-ROMANDE, SWISSLOS and partners.
