During the month of September 2019, Gingins Cricket Club took delivery of 10 plastic planks to serve as support for a temporary wicket to be rolled out on the football pitch at the centre sportif in Gingins.
"A GCC executive committee member had an idea that was first brought to his attention by the St Gallen Cricket Club", writes Gingins President Arnold Bucheli. "However, instead of using wood as a base, GCC decided on plastic (lighter, resistant to moisture, etc) and spoke to a local plastic supplier. After some design modifications, the pieces were ordered".
As the pictures demonstrate, the youngsters are also willing and able to assist in the setting up and dismantling the wicket.
Sunday 29th September saw Gingins Cricket Club use this system for the first time,. They are now optimistic that this system will enable them to invite the youngsters from other clubs to enjoy playing cricket matches against the backdrop of the Jura mountains and Mont Blanc in the distance.
