The Geneva Cricket Club has begun an initiative to create a women's cricket team, the first of its kind in Western Switzerland!

Caroline "Coco" Steenstra Toussaint and Niruja "Niru" Ratnarajah are the first to join, but many more are to come!

In an article on the Geneva Cricket Club's website and a subsequent post on the GCC's Facebook Page, Geneva Cricket Club is calling for prospective women cricketers in the area to contact Cocu, with a view to join her, Niruja (or "Niru") and other ladies at Bout du Monde Sports Centre.

Coco is a seasoned player who played in the Netherlands for the national squad and with local clubs. Niru is a beginner with a natural talent for the game.

The initiative is already gathering support as six ladies have shown interest in forming the new team.

Anyone interested either as a player, supporter, donator or sponsor should contact Coco or Cricket Switzerland's Womens Cricket Development Officer, Veena Mampilly.
