International Match Manager's Report

Cricket Switzerland

This season saw a building on the performances in the last couple of years.
There was a good performance from the Swiss representative XI in the DBMT with players from clubs representing most of the Cricket Switzerland family involved. I hope to have a player nominated from every club for the match this year, apart from League Champions Nomads who will be the opposition.
As was in our target for the season we played in both 50 over ODI & T20 International tournaments.
We also built on the ever stronger links between the U19 national team and the full senior XI with 4 new players making a successful and positive transition to the National XI from the U19 side.

The ODI tournament saw a win against Estonia and a close loss to the Czech XI due to a couple of injuries during the game causing issues with both the bowling line up and batting.  We had strong batting performances from Aidan Andrews and SenthamaraiKannan and before his injury from bowler of the tournament ShahnawazMuhammad. We also showed our strength in the wicket keeping area with Sathya (Cossonay), Asvin (Nomads) & Tom (Winterthur) all making strong performances during the International Season.

The T20 tournament in Warsaw saw 2 good wins against Latvia a close defeat to Poland and the now infamous last over “Mankad” 1 run defeat to Sledgehammer India. There were good team performances in all 4 games with all players being happy with the 12 man squad system meaning that someone sat out each day as 12th Man but also ensured over a 4 day tournament we could put out the strongest team possible.

I would also like to thank Juli Pratt who came to both tournaments and was happy to support the team as our Physio and I was also thanked by our opposing teams for her help and support.
We already have provisional ODI & T20 tournament fixtures for the 2017 season as well as being in discussions with BordeauxGiscour Cricket Club for a tour by a Swiss representative XI and a possible October fixture for the National XI in Malta or Greece or Swiss representative XI in Menorca depending on player availability and dates available from our league fixtures and the host clubs.
