Ruwan J then came into the attack and got the first break through. A great batting display by Banstead CC, on a quick outfield, brought them to a total score of 343 for 5. Ruwan J was the pick of the bowlers for Switzerland taking 4 wickets for 63 runs in 7 overs.
Switzerland knew this was a very big total to chase. A great knock by Aidan A scoring 53 and some good batting was seen by Jai S (35) and Floris W (20*). Unfortunately Switzerland was only able to put up 202 runs on board.

Day 2 – vs Chertsey CC, 50 overs

Chertsey CC won the toss and elected to bat. After the first match, Switzerland had different strategies for bowling and fielding. It turned out to work out well and Switzerland bowled them out for 150 runs. Arjun V was the pick of the bowlers (8-2-19-4), including a hat-trick. He was well supported by Frederick D (6-1-30-2), Ruan K (6-1-25-1), Ashwin V (5-1-21-1) and Ruwan J (5-0-25-1).
Switzerland didn’t start the chase very well losing both openers at 17 runs after 5.2 overs. Ashwin V and Jai S then had a partnership of 43 runs to settle things back. Three wickets were then lost at 60 runs, Jai S (25), Ashwin V (17) and Ruan K. Switzerland found themselves in some danger but Ruwan J and Arjun V kept their cool and had a partnership of 58 runs before they both got out for 27 and 26 runs respectively.  28 runs was then required to win. Josh T and Nicolas H finished it off for Switzerland scoring 14 and 13 runs respectively.
Switzerland won by 3 wickets.

Day 3 – vs Reigate Priory CC, T20

Switzerland played the “curtain raiser” to a charity match organized by English cricketer Jason Roy. A crowd of about 1500 people attended this event which was a first time experience for the Swiss U19s. Reigate Priory CC won the toss and elected to bowl first. Aidan A and Callum H gave Switzerland a great start with a partnership of 48 runs in 5 overs scoring 21 and 20 runs respectively. Jai S kept up the good run rate scoring an amazing 50 of 34 balls. Switzerland finally put on board 165 runs for 8 wickets.
Jai S gave the perfect start for Switzerland taking 2 wickets in the 2nd over. However, the next 2 batsmen brought Reigate Priory CC to 143 runs in the 19th over. 19 runs was then required in the last over and a good tidy over by Ashwin V helped Switzerland win the match by 10 runs. Jai S was the pick of the bowlers taking 3 wickets for 27 runs in 4 overs. Jai S got the Man of the Match award given by Jason Roy. This was a great victory for Switzerland especially playing in front of a big crowd including some celebrities such as Jason Roy and Jade Dernbach.

Ashwin V then scored 13 runs of 8 balls and Switzerland put up on board a good total of 154 runs for 5 wickets. A great knock by Callum H scoring 86 not out.
Some good bowling was then seen by Switzerland getting the opposition all out for 114 runs. Ruan K was the pick of the bowlers taking 3 wickets for 30 runs in 4 overs, well supported by Josh T (2-0-8-2), Jai S (3-0-19-1), Frederick D (1-0-7-1), Aidan A (1-0-9-1) and 2 run outs by Ashwin V and Simon P.
Overall this was a very successful tour for the Swiss U19s winning 3 matches out of 4. Some great performances were seen during this week and this will definitely build confidence to those young promising players.
