XI Stars continue the winning streak

Geneva XI stars are worthy winners once again, defeating star studded Geneva Sri Lankan CC by 72 runs in a crucial CSPL match.

On a day with glorious sunshine, XI Stars won the toss and had no hesitation in deciding to bat first. The opening pair of ArjunBisht and WaleedSaleem once again put on a fantastic opening stand of 100 and set the platform for all the big hitters. Arjun scored a brilliant 73 and Waleed supported him well with a crucial 34.

The middle order assault was contributed by from Lalit Kumar Dubey (42 off 29). Skipper Kooldeep Singh (45 off 34), Arjun Vinod (24 off 16) and Amandeep Singh (24 off 15) ensuring XI Stars achieved a formidable total of 294.

The Lankans knew that on batting friendly wicket they could chase the score knowing specially with in their inform power hitter Uddika in the team supported well by other batsmen. The chase did not start well for them when Ali Saleem got two wickets in successive overs,With pressure building, the moment of the match for XI stars was provided by Arjun Vinod whose bullet like throw to skipper and stars keeper accounted for the last match centurion Uddika Bandaranayake who found himself short of crease, a key wicket that was much celebrated by the Geneva XI Stars .

ArjunVinod then got into action with his off spin also grabbed the prized wicket of Dugal who made crucial 63.  Another run out at the strikers end, this time courtesy of Sachin Sharma at fine leg accounted for the important wicket of the skipper Zarook.

Mounir Barone and Ali Saleem further chipped in with two wickets each denting the middle and lower order ensuring a comfortable victory for XI Stars by 72 runs. Ali Saleem finished with fantastic figures of 4/38 on a perfect batting wicket. Overall tight bowling and fielding from the Stars helped them to dig deep and find a victory against a strong Geneva Sri Lankan outfit.

Ali Saleem was awarded man of the match for his brilliant performance with the ball and
the Stars are now sure of a place in the quarter finals. Wins in their upcoming matches will ensure that they get to play the quarterfinals at home.
