Swiss U13 and Swiss A finished 2nd and 3rd respectively at a tournament in Luxembourg (13 & 14 June 2015), but it was the Belgium U13 side that won the tournament with some excellent catches and fielding.
The Swiss Under 13s took 2 teams to the Luxembourg tournament this year, being the first choice team which had played together most recently in England, and a Swiss A side which consisted of mostly under 12 players.
The weather gods smiled on us and we had perfect conditions to play cricket all weekend, on the superb Luxembourg cricket oval.
The tournament was a round robin in format, but the organisers had accurately seeded the sides such that the 2 games played on the Sunday were effectively a plate final for third place between the Swiss A side and Luxembourg (which the Swiss A side won); and then followed by the cup final between the Swiss Under 13 side and Belgium, which Belgium ended up winning in a very tight finish. The Belgian side were very good in the field, including the best outfield catch that I have seen at this level to dismiss our best batsman on the day, Ed Clayton. Max Lightower deserves a mention for his eff! orts batting with Ed so that we could build a defendable total, and with the ball, Hemant Ganesh, Luke Specogna and Tom Riley all impressed, but at the end of the day it was not quite enough. For the Swiss A side, Archer Martin, Amogh Rathi and Kieran McConville performed particularly strongly.
Amit Rathi (Swiss A coach) said, "It was both encouraging and comforting to see the boys, who were playing together for the first time as a team, knit so well as a team and produce some great on
During the presentation ceremony Archer and Will received mentions for their batting performances, Luca and Amogh from the Swiss A were mentioned for their bowling. All the boys continuously improved their game with each match with some like Kieran, Eden and Ben reserving their best for the last match.

All in all, it was a fabulous weekend of cricket for the boys, and many thanks must go to Roger Barker and the Luxembourg dads who organised the whole event.
