Uprising CC played two Pickwick T20 games on Sunday 28th June, against Geneva International CC and CERN CC.
Uprising dominated in both games with brilliant batting and bowling performances and inch towards the qualification into knock out phase of the competition.
Uprising CC 250-3 (20 overs) defeated GICC 136-9 (20 overs) by 114 runs
Uprising CC won the toss on a hot afternoon and elected to bat first. Idrees Haque and Anser Mahmood immediately set the tone for what is coming up during the rest of the afternoon. A record 183
runs opening partnership ensured a huge score for Uprising CC. Idrees Haque was the chief destroyer with 151 runs of just 68 balls, which included 16 huge sixes and Anser scored an
important 55 runs of just 36 balls. Uprising finished on massive score of 250-3 in allocated 20 overs.
After a short tea, GICC set about chasing the huge score in an attacking fashion. However with the huge pressure to score at more than 12 runs per over meant lot of risky shot. GICC kept on losing wickets starting from the second over of the game and could not sustain the momentum of the chase. They finally finished at 136/9 in their allocated 20 overs. For GICC, Sanket was the highest run getter with 42 followed by Obaid with 39. For Uprising all the bowlers were tidy and Afif and Waseem picked up two wickets each.
CERN CC 108-6 (20 overs) lost to Uprising CC 111-1 (10.4 overs) by 9 wkts
In the second match of the day, visitors CERN CC won the toss and decided to bat first. However, CERN CC immediately lost wickets and were unable to cut loose in front of a disciplined
bowling performance from Uprising CC. With only Tanvir showing a semblance of fight, CERN CC could muster only 108 runs in their allocated 20 overs. For Uprising CC Kashif was the best bowler
with 3 wickets. After a brief pause Uprising CC came to bat and the openers continued in the same vein as in the first game. Only 10.4 overs were required to reach the target with Idrees Haque
once again proving to be unstoppable scoring 41 runs off just 15 balls and Anser scored an attacking 43 not out of just 24 balls. With 3 wins in 3 games, Uprising CC now move to the top of
