In the first of the league games played in Group B, Olten CC won a low scoring close game against debutants St. Gallen CC.
Winning the toss, St Gallen CC decided to bat first on the newly laid Notts wicket in Olten. After a careful start, St. Gallen kept on loosing wickets and at no point could build any momentum throughout the innings against the disciplined Olten bowlers. St. Gallen CC finished on 111 in 27.5 overs, way short of what they expected to score when they began the innings.
If Olten CC thought that the chase would be a walk in park after lunch, they were mistaken. St. Gallen CC came out firing all cylinders and left Olten CC precariously on 42/3. Disciplined batting from Olten CC middle order led by Ali Alam ensured that they did not losse wickets in clusters.
Olten CC achieved the target in 21 overs and 4 wickets to spare. Olten CC now move to the top of Group B with 30 points.
Power CC defeats Berne CC comfortably in their first league game played at Deutweg.
Winning the toss, home team Power CC had no hesitation in deciding to bat on what is fast becoming one of the high scoring grounds in Switzerland. Power CC got off to a fantastic start and the first six overs saw 53 runs scored. Even a fall of wicket in the 7 over did not stop the run fest. Regular partnerships with aggressive batting propelled Power CC to 315. A big score to chase in 40 overs.
After lunch, Berne CC started the chase positively and although they kept on loosing wickets, they decided to continue play aggressively. With the score on 173/9 in 27 overs, the heavens opened up and there was no chance for the game to continue resulting in a big victory for Power CC.
