From Wednesday 16th August to Friday 18th August Cricket Switzerland sent a National XI to play in a series of friendly matches in Utrecht, Holland, against dutch premiership clubs Utrecht & Amsterdam.
Switzerland played 3 very close matches against good opposition (a 40 over game against Kampong CC on the Wednesday, a T20 against Amsterdam CC on Thursday and finished the tour with a T20 on the grass square at Kampong CC in Utrecht), losing each in the last over.
The team had to get over an early injury to Keeper Tom Mampilly in the first match but were also thankful to our hosts who lent us a fielder while Tom was off the field getting himself patched
up. Asvin Lakkaraju took over the gloves and was looking good until during the second game when he also managed to pick up an injury, this time to a finger which he had to have an operation on
when he returned to Switzerland.and looks like it may well keep him out of the upcoming international tournament in Prague in September. The gloves were then taken by Sathya Narayanan who kept
well and survived his stint without injury.
