Thanks to the lake infrastructure organisations and their teams, this year's Cricket On Ice is on.
Recently St. Moritz has seen considerable snow. Combined with a rise in temperatures in the valley, it had caused very slippery conditions on the ice, placing the most prestigious cricketing event in the Swiss calandar into serious jeopardy.
The machinery used to flatten the snow has experiencing unprecedented difficulties getting about and preparing the lake. Conditions were so bad the second white turf weekend was abandoned after the first race, leading to the lake authorities suspending all activities on the ice until the conditions improve, which fortunately they did on Tuesday.
Thanks to the relentless effort of all the staff involved in the lake infrastructure (including the Kurverein and the St. Moritz Tourist Board), the COI organising committee are pleased to announce that preparations for this year's COI will be completed today and the 27th Cricket On Ice is due to begin, as scheduled, with the first game on Thursday 13th February between Old Cholmeleian XI & Dresden CC.
