Swiss U13 squad - 2014 plans

Swiss Cricket

Swiss U13 coach, Chris Clayton, has announced provisional plans for the Swiss U13 side in 2014.

  • Aiden Anderson (Gingins)
  • Tom Bews (Cossonay)
  • Ed Clayton (Basel Dragons)
  • Will Clayton (Basel Dragons)
  • Arnaud Delcourt (College du Leman)
  • Ben Harper (Basel Dragons)
  • Dan Hope (Basel Dragons)

  • Dayn Pariaug (Zurich Crickets)
  • Luca Poynton (Gingins)
  • Luke Specogna (Zurich Crickets)
  • Callum Wright (Basel Dragons)

Training Weekend (29 & 30 March 2014)

As a squad member, you are invited to an indoor training weekend in Basel over the weekend of 29th - 30th March. This will be hosted by coaches from Twenty 20 in the UK. There may be a charge for the weekend in the range of 100CHF per head but I hope that it will be covered by sponsorship. As this weekend clashes with Basel World, there will be no accommodation available within a 200km radius of Basel so for the boys travelling from the Geneva area, the Basel parents will host them on the Saturday evening. I assume that everyone will attend, if you can not then Chris Clayton know a.s.a.p..

Luxembourg Games (10 - 11th May 2014)

Chris Claytonis in contact with our friends in Luxembourg about the possibility of playing both home and away games against Luxembourg U13’s.

The provisional date for the weekend in Luxembourg is 10th & 11 May 2014, so please pencil this date in your diary. We again will pick a team based on availability first and then ability if we have too many players. I would hope to be able to host Luxembourg later in the summer, possibly second half of August or early September. More details to follow.

Twenty 20 Academy week (11th-15 August 2014)

We have been in discussion with our friends in Twenty 20 about how to provide a high level of coaching for the Swiss squad and hence the partnership regarding the March weekend and the UK tour. One further suggestion was to run an academy week in the summer in Switzerland. Given the challenge of having the right facilities and the issue with vacation plans, we decided not to go ahead with this idea. Instead, we are invited by Twenty 20 to join their UK Academy week, again in the Epsom area close to London over the period 11-15th August.
Full details are available from the Twenty20 International website.

The Academy week is the last item in the list of activities. I am not sure whether this would interest you or fit your vacation plans but please give it some thought and if you are keen, then please notify Chris Clayton.

UK Tour (7th - 9th June 2014)

We will go on tour to Epsom in England over the long weekend of 7th-9th June 2014. Epsom is SW London and easily accessible from all 3 London airports, Heathrow being the closest followed by Gatwick and then City. The tour will involve playing matches on Saturday and Sunday followed by a Twenty 20 training day on the Monday. Based on availability and ability, we have selected 12 boys to go on the tour. These are:

  • Nish Acharya (College du Leman)
  • Aiden Anderson (Gingins)
  • Tom Bews (Cossonay)
  • Ed Clayton (Basel Dragons)
  • Will Clayton (Basel Dragons)
  • Ben Harper (Basel Dragons)
  • Dan Hope (Basel Dragons)
  • Archer Martin (Gingins)
  • Dayn Pariaug (Zurich Crickets)
  • Luca Poynton (Gingins)
  • Luke Specogna (Zurich Crickets)
  • Callum Wright (Basel Dragons)
  • Arnaud Delcourt is first reserve and will take the first place vacated

Chris Clayton emphasises the criteria for the tour:-
1. Each child must be escorted by a parent or guardian
2. The parent or guardian is fully responsible for all travel arrangements and costs (flights and logistics in the UK)
3. We will recommend accommodation but it will be your responsibility to book it

As this is a Swiss holiday weekend, it is recommend that flights are booked sooner rather than later as they will get expensive. Travel out should be Friday night or early Saturday morning, returning Monday evening. Any questions please ask Chris Clayton.

I hope this is all clear, if you do have any questions then please ask. James and I do rely on your support and commitment to make this happen.

Many thanks in advance
Chris Clayton
