4 nation U19 cricket tournament report

Friday 9th - Sunday 11th August 2013


Despite losing all three games, the Swiss U19 national squad performed outstandingly at the four-nation 50 over tournament in Karlsruhe, Germany from Friday 9th to Sunday 11th August 2013.

The young Swiss squad, made up of players across Switzerland, some as young as fourteen, performed tremendously well. Despite the age gap they were competitive throughout the tournament, gaining invaluable experience that will bode well for the future of Swiss cricket.

 

Run under the auspices of the Deutscher Cricket Bund (DCB) using regulation DCB red cricket balls and in the presence of ICC Europe's Mr. Nick Pink, Belgium finished deserved winners with three wins from three.


The tournament was also reported on the ICC's 360° cricket TV programme and an article was published in the local German newspaper, the Karlsruhe News

At the end of the tournament all participating players received a medal from DCB President Dr. Brian Fehr and Belgium were presented with the tournament trophy.

 

Swiss Cricket wish to thank the hosting clubs for providing lunches and the facilities on all three days, the DCB for their part in the organisation and congratulate Belgium on their tournament success.

Match officials were accomodated at the Hotel Restaurant Herrmannsee in Pforzheim.
