In order to prepare the team and to provide the much-needed practice to the players, the SCA organized the first of the two practice sessions on the 19th of May at Cossoney CC. The International manager of the SCA and the two national selectors supervised the training session which was attended by 20 enthusiastic players from all across the country and included players who have already been nominated for the national team and the aspirants as well.

It was good to see some really promising youngsters showing up for the session, which bodes well for the future of Swiss Cricket. The training session was supervised by Berne's CC Aneesh who is also a level 2 coach. He had the players go through warm up sessions, followed by the batting and bowling drills, which was thoroughly enjoyed by the players. It was heartening to see all the players taking a keen interest in the drills, for some of the players, which was the first of its kind to take part in a professional coaching session.

The practice session was followed by a 25 overs 10 a side practice match and it was good to see that some national players got into signs of early form with both bat and the ball in a closely contested match which went to the wire. Young Simon Henderson showed his potential and was very impressive with a patient knock and among other national team players Asvin and Ryan Pitchford played good innings. Amandeep, Sajid Safiat, Shahnawaz and Afzaal Sikander all bowled well.

The next training session is scheduled for the 1st of June and players are encouraged to send their nominations to International match manager, as limited spaces are available for the session.

In addition to playing hosts to the Austrian National Team, the Swiss national senior team also have tours lined up to Sussex, England and La Manga, Spain, besides hosting a visiting UK team later this year.
