Player nominations invited for La Manga Tour

As has been the case with the previous years, a Swiss National Team has been invited to participate in the 2013 edition of the La Manga Charity Tournament.

This year the tournament starts on Thursday 10th October and finishes on Monday 14th October.

 

Asvin Lakkaraju requests any individual registered with an SCA affiliated clubs and interested in being nominated to the national team, to contact their club. In turn clubs are requested to coordinate their members' nominations and forward to Asvin Lakkaraju by Tuesday 16th July in order for the selection committee, headed by our league chairman Mr. Abraham Koshy, to consider all nominations.

Expenses for the tour

  1. Stay at the resort for the duration of the tournament and gala dinner: €318
  2. Flight charges: CHF250-400 depending on where you are flying from
  3. Car rentals: 100 CHF per person (approximately)

Eligibility criteria for the Swiss National Team 2013

  1. Playing abilities: Should be a good player (recognized by either league committee members, scout, application or recommendation)
  2. Ideally having a Swiss Passport (either acquired or through birth, no. of players unrestricted)
  3. If number 2 cannot be satisfied then the player should have been a resident for 4 or more years (no. of players max 4)
  4. Should be nominated by the club for the selection
  5. The player must be a playing member of one the Swiss clubs participating in the SCA League.

 

Note: If insufficient players are available within this criteria, then players who have been participating in domestic Swiss cricket for at least two years would be considered.

Principles at a glance

  • For some positions youth players may take precedence, particularly where there is little or no difference in ability, consideration of player discipline will be considered in the selection process
  • A principle of mixed ethnicity should be incorporated into squad selection
  • 2-4 candidates per club is desirable
