Geneva XI Stars won by a whopping 152 runs in their opening match of the 2013 Swiss league championship, demonstrating that they are a force to be reckoned with in the 2013 Swiss league championship.
It started well for the champions as they won the toss and elected to bat first on a cold day in Cossonay, and though they lost two early wickets, Ali Saleem and Mohammed Ali came
up trumps in a pulsating display of traditional cricket, first settling themselves up by taking singles and rotating the strike and, once they developed a partnership, then went on the
attack, the opposition at times looking helpless to contain the barrage of clean hitting from the two batsman who went on to make a partnership of 192 runs in a final
score of 254-6. Mohammed Ali scoring a stylish 116 runs and Ali saleem an equally important 55.
With the momentum of the game against them, the Cossonay innings did not get off to a good start. Their top order batsman were both dismissed in the first 10 overs for a score of 32. It was always going to be a tough ask for Cossonay to topple the opposition and they finally were all out for 102 runs in 28.4 overs against a very accurate attack from the champions with Mounir and Sudath taking 3 wickets each and Ali saleem and Parth Patel taking 2 a piece.
