Cricket course at Baden County School

The theme at this year's Baden County School sports day was to 'learn a new sport' ??? Amongst the many sports presented, there was an introduction to cricket.

Andrew Linggi (English teacher), who actively played cricket when he lived in England, offered the course. He was supported by students Bhavya Sukhijia & Himesh Parikh, both active cricketers.  15 students signed up for this introduction.

The meeting point was the freshly mowed Baden County School sports field (compliments of the school gardener). After an intense overview and a short demonstration by Bhavya and Himesh, the participants were divided into three groups to practice bowling, batting and fielding skills. Afterwards there was an introduction to the most vital laws of cricket, and then it was time for the first match, ten overs per team - and of course there was wide balls' and 'ducks'. However, there were also several fours' and 'sixes' to applaud.

Time was up far too quickly, so the three instructors and some participants, decided to continue playing after the end the course. The course was a success and all participants had fun playing cricket. Some are considering founding a Baden County School cricket team!
