From 17th - 20th May 2012, Switzerland took a young and talented Under 15 team to Copenhagen to play two top club teams in T20 matches and to play against the national Danish team in two 40-over matches.
Winning two matches and losing two was a good result. The team might have felt that winning all four matches could have been possible - perhaps rightly. The team played with spirit against a vastly more experienced opposition which has so much more access to wonderful facilities, professional coaches, substantial resources, and a far larger pool of players.
It is probably fair to say that we struggled to take key wickets and were then forced to produce some very fine batting performances from a number of players. Since this team is a predominantly Under 14 team, with only three players leaving at the end of the season, this will no doubt be a team that next year will be able to draw on valuable international experience and should be a tough team to beat.
Our hosts were gracious and generous and we were most grateful for the opportunity to play at such excellent and well-prepared grounds in Copenhagen. Many thanks to all the work put in by the Danish Cricket Board to make this possible.
