The Cricket Coaches Association of Switzerland (CCAS) organized an ECB Level 2 Coaches Course over 2 weekends in late November and early December 2011. The final assessment took place in January 2012.
Eight participants successfully completed the course and the now highly qualified coaches are busy training their charges across Switzerland.
Here is what John Cook, Cricket Development Manager at Hampshire CC - who visited Switzerland for the three weekends to deliver the course – had to say about the Level 2 course:
"The UKCC2 coaching certificate is the beginning of a fascinating journey, assisting both players and people in advancing their skills both individually and within a team/squad environment. The course puts the attendees through their paces to understand that not only it is a big leap in their own skill acquisition but it offers serious development opportunities to players. It enhances coaches’ technical and tactical understanding, further equipping them to observe and analyse the participants’ performance with a view to consolidating newly acquired skills as well as advancing and developing these skills at a rate suitable to the learner.
In terms of the coaches who attended the UKCC2 course in Geneva, they are a credit to their cricket clubs and some of the most dedicated volunteers (now professionals!!!) that I have had the pleasure of working with. I truly felt that even though there may not always be an obvious line of further development for these coaches, they are dedicated in pursuing this outside of the time they already dedicate to the players and parents associated within their clubs.
Please, please, please support them on their journey as it will make the players even more special.
Wishing all the clubs associated with this UKCC2 course the very best for both the short, medium and long-term future!"
The CCAS would like to extend its gratitude to John for his terrific guidance over the 3-month training period. He really did inspire all the participants to reach the highest standard possible in their coaching. The CCAS would also like to thank ICC-Europe for supporting the course.
