Members of the Swiss cricketing community are invited to join the British Residents` Association (Zurich Region) at the joint luncheon with the Royal British Legion (RBL) taking place this year on Saturday 17th November 2012.
For the past few years the BRA have held a lunch in November, somewhere near the date of the 1918 Armistice. The goal is to raise interest for the RBL in Northern Switzerland. The RBL has a large membership of support around the Lake of Geneva but very few in the Zürich area, so the Zurich Region of the British Residents Association was approached a few years ago for assistance.
The Legion is as busy today as it ever has been. Many dedicated men and women join up gladly to help in areas of conflict. There is euphoria about joining up, or going out on missions, but most people are not aware of the aftermath - mental trauma, broken marriages, physical disability, and
very often financial troubles. So the RBL steps in to give support of all kinds and lives up to their motto of "Lest We Forget".
The Lunch is at the Kongresshaus in Zurich - and we offer a complete package of three course menu, water, wine and coffee, so that once paid, you do not need to dip into your pocket again. This is especially good for single women, who are embarassed to have their wine and drinks paid for by others. There is a speaker from one of the services, or a Defence Attaché or similar. This year we have someone quite eminent who we are sharing with another organisation. Prof. Lindley French should be extremely interesting. His blogs are quite provocative.
We look forward to a good turnout for the reasons stated above and welcoming members of the Cricket Club diaspora.
Below is the invitation with reservation form which was published in the October BRA Bulletin. For further information contact Joanna Koch.
