(Berne, Switzerland) At the 33rd Annual General Meeting of the Swiss Cricket Association,
held on Saturday 26th February 2011 in Berne, Switzerland, a new committee was elected to face the challenging prospects of 2011.
Mr. A.Mackay was elected as President and Chairman. He leads an Executive with an exciting injection of new blood, but without loss of continuity.
There are three new faces: Mr. D.Milne (vice-President), Mr. K. McKeown (Honorary Secretary), and Mr.A.Koshy (Competitions’ Chairman); there are two officers who have served in previous years: Mr. N.Gandhi (Treasurer) and P.MacLaverty (International Match Manager); and two officers from last year’s committee, namely Mr. P.Henderson (Youth Development Officer) who remains in his current role, and Mr. P.Vijayadas who moves to Publicity & Sponsorship.
After thanking the outgoing President, Mr. J.McKillop, for his efforts during a year of turmoil, Mr. A. MacKay said "Since consolidation talks with the breakaway organisation, the SCV (Schweizerisches Cricket Verband) broke down, we must face the fact that Swiss cricket may be on the verge of suspension from the ICC. It is time to focus on cricket, on the grass-roots, concentrate on the core responsibilities of the Association, to play, develop and promote the game within Switzerland."
He went on to thank the outgoing president, Mr. John McKillop, for steering the association through a difficult year and welcomed the challenges for his new committee.
