About Gingins Cricket Club

Location: Gingins is a village of about 1200 people in the La Côte region of Switzerland, nestled on the foot of the Jura Mountain range, situated between Geneva and Lausanne (near Nyon) with views of Lake Geneva and Mont Blanc in the distance.  It is a beautiful setting for cricket.

History: The idea for the Gingins Cricket Club (GCC) developed in a Gingins backyard where an Aussie family played ‘backyard’ cricket whenever the sun shone. There was such interest, but so little space, that the impetus grew to start a club whereby kids from around the region could come together to have fun learning about and playing cricket.  And thus it came about that on the Sunday morning of March 30th, 2008 the club was launched with its inaugural training session at the tennis courts of the Gingins Centre Sportif (sporting grounds also used by the local football club), located on Route de Chiblins, 1276 Gingins (VD).

At present the club has approx. 50 junior members from all over the region and of many nationalities.  The players represent age groups from U7 to U17. Also, we are only in existence for junior cricket.  We emphasize the spirit of cricket, getting involved and giving it a go.  We are focussed on being a family oriented club, where the parents are the coaches and the administrators, and assist everyone in developing their skillset.

Our motto: ‘WE PLAY AS A TEAM’
